Notes: This is a listing of the most prominent peak in each of the 50 states. In the case of over half the states, this is NOT the state highpoint, or even necessarily a county highpoint. But, in common with county highpoints, nine of the states have more than one peak contending for most prominent. They include Wyoming, Pennsylvania, Michigan, New Jersey, Connecticut, Missouri, Mississippi, Iowa, and Louisiana.
