Looks like bad lat/lon data. There is no rock in that area. Seems to me it is this Monument Rock that it's referring to:

Where is this? Don't know, but it looks like stuff near Waldo Canyon.

Interesting! Did you read the back of that postcard?

"This rock, situated about 10 miles from Santa Fe, is in a deep gorge known as Santa Fe Canyon, the scenery of which is of incomparable beauty and grandeur. A road being built by convict labor will eventually go through this canyon, connecting Santa Fe with Las Vegas."

This photograph, too, places it in "Santa Fe CaƱon".

By the description, it's hard to imagine this is any place other than the canyon cut by the Santa Fe River (I guess the effort to punch a route through to Las Vegas this way was abandoned... or maybe the convicts revolted  ). I wonder if this rock is now beneath the surface of one of the reservoirs?

EDIT:

I think this is it:

This rock casts a pretty sizable shadow in satellite view, and its position aligns with historical topos available on Topoview (Santa Fe 100K maps, years 1963 and earlier):

Yeah, just looked at this too. There is a location given here, but it's a bit off (two township sections south).

Here's the add:

Thanks

Nice! I forgot your site offers historical topo layers, too. Looks like it ended up on the wrong quadrangle, however.
