John Kirk completes Park County!

Postby Steve Knapp » Sat Oct 17, 2009 6:57 pm

Today John became the first known person to climb all 231 ranked peaks in Park County. He finished on a 15-mile RT day with five 11ers south of the Lost Park road. At the same time he finished all 37 ranked peaks in the Lost Creek wilderness. I was pleased to accompany John today and on several other Park County outings.

Congratulations John, that's one heck of a major list!

Congrats John! Glad the weather held out long enough for you to finish them off this year.

Great job, John! Park County looks to have quite a few exceptional peaks.

Thanks guys
A few years ago I wouldn't have thought I'd be able to pull it off. Tough list for a variety of reasons. Thanks for joining me for a lot of LCW ones this year Steve, especially for the help on the Goose Creek 9ers.

Excellent work John. You certainly cruised through your remaining ones this year! And of course the typical question is ...What's next?

It's good to know there is someone to go to for info on all those Park County Peaks.

Good going John - a lot of those lower peaks in the interior look good for winter/spring.

John finished Park county again yesterday. A new ranked peak 8740 was found in the Wright Reservoir quad. So it had to be climbed. It has 320' of prominence and is a nice little peak. There are some access issues around, but nothing too ugly. Park county now has 231 ranked summits on LoJ. There used to be 231, one dropped off with new info making it 230, now one just got added to make it 231 again. I got to be with John on both days he completed the county. :-D My turn soon, hopefully later this year.

The day deteriorated from there as we headed south into Fremont county, but that's another story. Let's just say I wouldn't suggest Fremont 8220 to anybody, even my worst enemy if I had any. Doug, you are one tough (or crazy) hombre to be working on that Fremont list.
