anybody have anything close to home that won't take a long day this Saturday, I'm looking for something to do.

I was thinking about another long day of Park County peak slaughtering, but I could change my mind and do Bishop & etc Sat. Could do Cathedral Spires then Bishop and you could bail after Bishop if you'd like. Or could do Cheesman and the Castle...

Earlier in the week I was thinking the forecast was looking too good to settle for low Jeffco peaks... Still not a bad forecast, but I'd like to get in as much rock practice this winter and spring as possible. Plus you threatened 14ers for the rest of the winter so I saw this as a narrow window ...

I did sort of have higher peaks in mind to stay in shape for the 14ers, I could do that Sunday.

So meet at the TH to Cathedral? 8am early enough for you? I can bring a lite rope and a little pro, guess I better read those TR's again.

That works - I'd rather shoot for 7, but 8 is OK - You're coming from Sedalia on 67 I imagine? Guess the logical place to meet is about here:

Pete K and Adam used rope and rappelled. I'm willing to carry the rope up. I'll bring a small assortment of pieces, though I'm not anticipating using them.

That looks like the parking area I'm familiar with.

Google maps says it is 34.9 miles from my house via 67 to Foxton, 1 hour and 18 minutes.

58.6 miles, 1 hour 17 minutes via 285 and Foxton.

I'll take the short route, 67.

Adam climbed Bishop Rock without placing any gear. Once at a nice ledge about 8 feet below the summit he anchored himself in and belayed me up. It's an easy climb....but i'm not as experienced a climber as he is, so i was happy to have the protection. I believe he brought his 30 m rope. There are a few big slings and 2 rappel rings as well. The slings are around a huge rock that isn't moving.

I'd recommend bringing a very short rope (30m is fine) for the rappel. You can get 1 small piece in at the bottom of the climb, but it's basically worthless - if you fall before the big ledge, you'll deck anyway. If it is wet/icy, I'd recommend doing it on a different day. That side is decently lichen covered - when wet, it will be much less secure, since it is basically a 5.4 or 5.5 free-solo. I don't want to ruin the surprise for you. I'm still vacillating about plans for tomorrow, depending on what my wife wants to do. *sigh*

what direction does the climb face? IE sunhit or not?

Due north. In summer, it gets a few hours of sunhit. I'd be surprised if there was any at this point in the year. It has been dry the last few weeks, however... unless we get snow/rain tonight?
