It is the other way, the NP is a subset of the Wilderness Area.

Hmm... The map here seems to indicate the opposite:

The darker shade of lavender is wilderness, inside the lighter shade, which is NP.

ok, I don't have my map here so I was just going with my recollection but its coming back to me now. For some reason I was thinking a NP would be smaller than a wilderness; apparently not. I'll check my file tonight to make sure I marked them correctly.

John - are you in the process of updating these completed wildernessa areas on the main list page? I doubt anyone is done with any except LCW (in Colorado), but just checking. Thanks!

John, I have redone the Black Canyon CSV file. Mistakes were made.

I'll give it an additional check tonight.

It will be done sometime this month hopefully. There are probably more finishers than anyone would have imagined since the wildernesses range in size so much. Of the five wilderness lists that have been up for quite some time:

Indian Peaks:
GerryRoach
mikegarratt

Maroon Bells-Snowmass:
mikegarratt

Lost Creek:
DSunwall
JohnPrater

Mount Evans:
JohnCollard
mikegarratt
VinceKloster

West Elk:
none

Others finished that I know of not yet listed:
James Peak:
myself and probably 5-10 others...

Ptarmigan and Vasquez:
anyone who has finished the 12ers

Black Ridge Canyons (2 peaks):
kalet

Mesa Verde (2 peaks):
markott
mikegarratt

Plus several others completed for mikegarratt (probably more than half), including the largest of all, the Weminuche. I think Bob Martin finished that list as well, not sure how many others have who don't have stats on LoJ.

Sweet. I can update the populated list of wilderness areas in the next month or so. I don't know if the updated article will be in the TnT with the CMC this next quarter or next fall's issue. Also, I will have to publish in the TnT to ask people to send in their list(s) of peaks, dates, etc. to the CMC so I can get them updated in the database (spreadsheets) I am creating.

I know I, Steve Martin, Mike Offerman and Tim Worth have finished the tiny Cache la Poudre Wilderness (around 5 ranked peaks), and Steve has also finished the Rawah, Comanche Peak, and I believe the Neota. Mike and Tim are close to finishing all those too, I think.

Interesting thing about Cache la Poudre Wilderness area is HP isn't any of the ranked peaks, its an unranked spot elevation off Flowers Road. Not sure if any of us Larimer folks have been there, I know I haven't.

What led you to leave off Richthofen? I can't find any source other than the boundary file from the national atlas - seems doubtful it runs a line on the south slope of Richtohofen, and the boundaries nearby showing the RMNP boundary are way off...

The TI map shows the boundary heading west just west of Richtofen, I'll post a copy later.

OK, hold the boat, there is a Gunnison Gorge WA, a Black Canyon of the Gunnison WA and a Black of the Gunnison NP. whew

Actually, according to the Trails Illustrated boundary, it's a slightly higher point without a spot elevation, a little further west: http://mapper.acme.com/?ll=40.6271,-105.5005&z=15&t=T

Colorado National Monument

Dinosaur National Monument - pretty good sized with 50 peaks in Co and about a dozen in Utah. I've gotta visit that place someday.
