Lost camera on Babcock

Postby ClimbingCooneys » Mon Jul 23, 2012 8:28 am

There's only a remote chance this notice will bring any result - but it's worth a try. We left a compact camera behind somewhere on Babcock Peak in the La Plata group back on 7/15/12. It's a Canon SD850 IS in a small blue carrying case. Our route took us up the Boren Ck access and the Cooper route up to the middle summit, but we also went to the west summit, so it could have been left there as well. The day after loosing it, we hiked back up Boren and all the way back up toward the main couloir to about where the tundra ends. Another climber we know did the same route the following day and did not find it on the main (middle) summit, so either a marmot or goat took off with it or it's on the west summit. If anybody finds, please respond. It's fairly old now but replacing it with an equivalent is fairly expensive.

You might want to try posting in the lost and found section on 14ers.com as well. There is a much higher forum viewership (albeit more 14er-related) there and may be more fruitful...
