John Kirk finishes Chaffee County

Congratulations John on being the first to finish this rather sizeable list. This is a list that is near and dear to my heart. As usual you steamrolled your way through the list. Any favorites worth mentioning? Poor Ken only had 9,082 to finish but just never got around to it.

Congratulations John! That is a monster list. Way to knock off another big one off.

Which would you consider as the toughest peak on the list?

Well done John! That's a big list more than 100 peaks above 12k. Most people consider it an accomplishment just to climb the 12 14ers, but you got them all. Congrats!

Ken, you should finish up this list too. Only one to go, that would be killing me.

Thanks all...
Chaffee is a great high elevation list. 107 of its 163 summits are in the state's highest 1000 list (or 12500'+). Outstanding from an access standpoint as well.

In terms of hardest moves, three come to mind - 12135, 13462 or 9082. Ice Mountain may fit in there, but the beta available for it detracts from the challenge, plus I felt the south side of Ice was more like 2+ than 3. Because of the long hike required for 9082 and no other nearby peaks to share the burden of the approach, I'd say that's the toughest one.

I have been wondering if Ken has just been humble waiting for me to finish first :-P
9082 would be brutal this time of year.
Favorites:
12135
13517
13462
9082
"Booby Prize"
Fitzpatrick Peak
"Silver King Peak"
The Crater

Interestingly, There is a register from 1955 on the summit of Calico Mountain (one of my last peaks done Saturday).

Larimer is the next larger county project I'm actively working on. Fremont is my next winter project.

Congrats John, bet you've seen a lot of US 285 pursuing this list.

Congrats John! Lots of good high peaks in that county, I may end up chasing this one myself someday after I finish my "local" counties. (If I can stop chasing San Juan 13ers long enough to do them :-D)

Some interesting peaks for sure! I remember that 1955 summit register, my aunt was barely a month old when that one got placed, pretty cool to see a bit of history on a summit like that!

Good luck with Larimer and Fremont!
