Thanks for noticing! I think for us, Gilpin County was a lot about resourcefulness. That is, figuring out routes that a couple of old coots who don’t run very fast, can complete while remaining undetected.
We did manage to find some nice little hikes – not necessarily the shortest or most expedient routes, but it worked out for us!
Some highlights
- Finding a cabin in the woods that had old skis for siding
- Winds so strong on Rollins BM we had to crawl the last few feet
- Getting my gloves filled with cactus spikes descending Floyd BM
- Finding another old cabin with walls made out of six-panel doors
- A variety of car parts and other artifacts lurking in the woods
- Something fun to do when the weather was not so good higher up
