Well done Brian! That's a lot of peaks in the 1.5 years you've been concentrating on it. You must know the county pretty well now. Congrats.

Congratulations Brian! Which of those 10ers did you finish on? That is one gigantic list! What did you enjoy most and least about it?

Thanks guys!

Here is some background on Larimer County. There are 255 peaks in the county, more than any other county that has been completed. Elevations of the peaks range from the 5,603’ Goat Hill to the 13,560’ Hagues Peak with an average elevation of 9,248’. The most difficult peak is The Sharkstooth rated at 5.4 and the average difficulty of the list as a whole is 2.1. Completing Larimer County also yields completions of the Cache La Poudre, Comanche Peak, Neota & Rawah Wildernesses.

Below is a list of the three completers and their dates of completion. I believe I am the youngest to finish at 30 years of age.

Steve Martin 7/21/2009
Mike Offerman 10/14/2009
Brian Kalet 9/19/2010

I finished on 10630 after climbing 10833 and Shipman Mountain making for a 6.5 hour day with nearly 20 miles and over 4000’ of elevation gain.

What I enjoyed most about working on the list was the wide range of peaks in terms of geographical location, elevation, etc. What I enjoyed least was dealing with access issues.

I’d like to thank the following people:
Drivers: Becca Blumberg & Corrinne Plumley
Lists of John: John Kirk (Webmaster), Joe Grim (Trip report contributor) & Luke Plumley (Trip report contributor)
Route beta: Luke Plumley, Mike Offerman & Wes Lloyd

Congrat Brian. Having originally compiled that list in 2004, I'm always glad to see another completer. Hope you enjoyed it. The 10833/Shipman/10630 combo, I remember my hike of those as well, a similarly big mileage day.

Larimer is still in my open file, not having lived in the area regularly for almost three years now. I expect to return there some day to reach my last 50 or so summits, but am in no hurry. -Tim W

Very cool Brian! Everyone who has completed the county has been the youngest to do so. But you have set the bar a fair bit lower ;->

I had two trips that I spent the night up high before hitting peaks the next day. The trips were for 7 of the Rawah peaks and 6 peaks around Comanche Peak. Plus a few more car camping between days. Not sure if Steve spent any nights out.

I agree with you on what was best about the list and what kind of sucked!

Way to go, Brian! Larimer is quite the list, which few will finish.
