Topped out with the faithful mutt Lizi on Heartbeat Peak today in mild winds and clear skies. Came upthe steep way from Jim Creek...whew! Our first county completion together...OK, Prowers was the first, but this felt better :)

Well done Rich and Lizibelle. Surely the dog is not even aware of the achievement, just likes being outside with you. You are close on a few counties, time to belay her up Chair Rocks. :-D

Congratulations Lizi and Rich! Did you share some biscuits on the summit to celebrate???? 8) What other completions do you think Lizi has a shot at?

Congrats, Rich. Saw your names on some of your last few Gilpin peaks near Central City a couple weeks ago!

Way to go Rich and Lizzy! Give your dog an extra treat for the accomplishment. What kind of dog do you have?

To answer the various questions:

1. She might have been aware the peak had a certain relevance, as she was driving hard for the summit even when I got tired.

2. She is a Red Heeler crossed with anyone's guess. She stands about 6 inches higher and is about 30 pounds heavier than any heeler I have seen. Vets have guessed she might be part bull terrierish of some sort, maybe chow, but definitely cattle dog...maybe even dingo.

3. We did share biscuits of a sort...those Hit cookies are good!

4. Not sure what other completions she has a shot at. I don't like to risk her safety, so won't be taking her on the Wilsons or Crestones to get the Colorado County Highpoints. She is one peak away from the Jeffco nontecchnical peaks :)

For the curious, she has a profile here under Lizibelle, with her pic on top of Bross. She is a bit chunky in that pic, though she still keeps up all day
