Kirk Mallory Completes the Highest 1,100

Postby John Kirk » Wed Aug 27, 2014 10:19 am

On 8/16/2014 Kirk Mallory completed the highest 1100 peaks with an ascent of 12,441 near Lake City. This includes McReynolds and Twin Peaks, two 5th class 12ers that are not part of the highest 1000. Congratulations!

Kirk, I'm glad I could join you for your final peak on this list. It was a pleasant day and a pleasant peak.

Modest as always, Kirk was adamant that I not announce it. I'm glad John noticed!

Thanks - the 100 milestones start sounding a bit odd at that level. But it did make for a nice goal for this summer - the last few were nice peaks. 12441 was actually my final peak in the 1117 highest, but maybe we should just call it the 1111 highest. Thanks for joining me on that hike, Teresa. It's just a small step towards my ultimate goal to climb the 1164 highest.

Brian - yes, I still have my eyes on those last four Utah thirteeners. Hopefully soon.

Awesome, congrats Kirk! OK, I had to bite on this 1164 thing. Why stop there? With some research it looks like Turret Ridge is #1165. Why would anyone want to skip that peak? :-D
