Unranked Peaks?

Postby MattK » Sat Dec 23, 2017 3:27 pm

Hello,

Just a simple question on unranked inclusion. I am just curious what the "criteria" is for inclusion in an unranked listing. I've notice that even boulders are starting to be included, for example "Tomato Rock" https://listsofjohn.com/peak/165225. What determines whether a peak will be added or not? I've looked through the glossary, but didn't really find my answer there. Will eventually every closed contour, or something I've "climbed" have the potential of being an unranked peak? Not complaining by any means, just curious.....knee surgery recovery makes you bored.....

Thanks in advance.

Peaks named in published books or maps, with at least some topographic prominence, can be submitted to John for possible inclusion.

I highly suspect Tomato Rock is ranked anyways. I measured it via rappel at just over 300 ft.
