ChrisinAz finishes CO County Highpoints!

Postby matt » Sun Oct 19, 2014 10:01 am

Congrats to Chris, who saved West Spanish Peak for his finisher. He made the summit around 9am yesterday morning.
I would never have finished the list without Chris' efforts to secure access to several of these or to cajole me into long drives to the plains to walk around in farm fields.
Quite a Colorado year for this guy--the 73 list of 14ers and the CoHPs are done!

Nice job, Chris! West Spanish is a great one to finish on!

Hope you can keep cranking out these county HPs!

Thanks all! It's been a long, but fun journey of working on the list over the past five years, and I wouldn't be at this point without the many folks like Matt who've joined me on these climbs. West Spanish was a very fitting finish; I had the mountain to myself, the weather was a bit unusual but nothing bad happened, and there was little enough snow that my car and I were able to sneak up there over the weekend. The obligatory post-hike gorging on Rudy's bbq in the Springs was pretty awesome, too :-D

Teresa--was great to meet you guys too! Hopefully we'll cross paths again in the future...

Luke--I have no idea how you know of my desire for Washakie Needles, but it's true! As in, if I could climb only one more peak before leaving Colorado, that'd be the one. Unfortunately, even with a willing climbing partner who has the requisite 4WD vehicle and lead-climbing skills, it's proving a *very* tough nut to crack...
