East Dome, Mt St Helens

Postby Kelly » Sun Nov 11, 2012 10:20 pm

John,

Was on the east flank of St Helens (Skamania County, WA) this weekend. Visibility was terrible, with fog & snow, but when I looked over towards East Dome, saw 2 domes. The GPS pointed to the southern dome. Thought at the time that seemed a little strange, because the northern one is more impressive, more defined. When I came home & looked at maps, all had the "northern" dome labeled as "East Dome". No one has summitted this yet, so shouldn't get anyone mad to change it.
If this attachment loads correctly, it is a screen shot from a YouTube mtn bike video.

Depends which map - newer ones have changed the location.
Older map:

Newer:

GNIS puts the location where the newer maps refer to it, so I'll update it:
