Congrats to Peter Barr - Southeast 150 Highest

Postby wayfarer » Sun Apr 24, 2011 8:59 pm

Congratulations to my buddy Peter Barr for reaching another milestone in Southeast peakbagging. He just completed the Southeast 150 Highest P300s this weekend by finishing up on Peak 4995, a remote, trail-less peak in the Great Smoky Mountains, #136 on the list. Don't know if I want to make this a public list on the main site or not, but here is the link to see it: http://listsofjohn.com/PeakStats/Content/clist.php?lid=241

So far as I know, Peter was already the first, and still the only, person to have completed all 198 (now 200 - see notes for list) Southeast Fivers with 200' prominence, back in 2008: http://www.griztrax.net/wildcountry/viewtopic.php?t=1358&highlight=fivers+complet

Way to go!
Rick

Well done, Peter! I bet there are some serious bushwhacks on that list. And ticks...and poison ivy... It is great to see some East coast completions.

I may be a little late to this, but I have a new appreciation for this task you have completed. I just got back from an overnight to do the Tricorner Knob peaks, and all of them had some "short" bushwhacking that was miserable. Maybe the hot/humid weather made it worse. I think once I'm done with this sixers list when I come out to NC to visit my parents, I'll climb only peaks with trails to their true summits.
