Idaho Complete

Postby John Kirk » Wed Feb 27, 2008 5:12 pm

Idaho is complete. With nearly as many peaks as Montana while only 57% of Montana's size in square miles, it is fair to say Idaho is quite mountainous.

300' prominence peaks: 5,726
500' prominence peaks: 2,464
1000' prominence peaks: 584
2000' prominence peaks: 100

Great work yet again, John. I'll have to see if I have any ID peak photos to contribute.

Which county had the most peaks with P >= 1000? Anything approaching Flathead, MT(137)?

1k peaks - Custer County has 87, Idaho County has 82. I don't think we'll see a rival for Flathead in the Contiguous US.

I'm working on Nevada for the time being. There are many interested in other states, namely AZ, WA, OR.

If I may ask a question without seeming like I'm just taking all of your hard work for granted; When will the Idaho peaks be incorporated into the member stats under the member profiles :please: ? I love this site and wish I could help contribute more than just an occassional Paypal donation. Also, I am very excited to hear that Nevada is being worked on next - afterall according to one book I have, Guide to the World's Mountains, Nevada is the most mountainous state in the US :-P in terms of number of mountain ranges.

I had simply forgotten to add it. I've also added a Member Updates for ID (recently climbed) page.

Cool! I also noticed that Idaho needs to be added to the list of states you can select from on the 50 closest peaks page.
