Hi, Peter. If you would like to know about new ones for certain individual counties, you can messaging me privately here on LOJ and I can pass them along to you. John doesn't want to make the list of new peaks public because other sites have already copied most of his content before, without asking for it, or even giving credit. So, he wants to protect what he can.

John has just finished going through the tens of thousands of possible ranked peak candidates and the official count of new peaks is:
1498 new ranked peaks
1886 new soft ranked peaks
I think we can be pretty sure now that we have 99.9% of all ranked peaks identified. (Well, at least of those possible to identify from our current maps.)
John has spent hundreds (if not thousands) of hours studying topo maps to identify all these new peaks. This after having already spent many more hours going through all the topo maps in the first place, eyeball identifying all ranked peaks.

Way to go John!!!

the Strava iPhone and Android app uses GPS elevation data en route and then recalculates all elevations from the NED database once it gets access to the internet
