WY 5th class peaks

Saw Brian's WY 5th class peaks here. Interesting set of summits.

Most of these peaks are listed as 5th class in the Turiano and Kelsey guidebooks. Which is how they got rated as such on this site.

More definite 5th class for WY:

Coffman Butte
Boedecker Butte
Inominate - 5.10, final boulder
Mt Woolsey
Black Rock - 5.2, see report

The following I have seen in person from various angles/distances and are possibly/likely technical:

I've heard Black Tooth has a 3-4 route somewhere on the S side.

Tim, do you know if it's possible to climb to the saddle between Black Tooth and Woolsey from the west, at what rating, and what the rating would be for Woolsey from the north? I know the whole ridge has been traversed from Penrose to Black Tooth, but not the details.

Teresa, The S side Black Tooth route was approached going up the Cloud Peaks Lakes drainage, but I'm not sure if it went up to the Woolsey saddle or just straight up the S-SW side slopes. Looks like a pretty long approach, especially if packing in rock gear. Don't have any other details. No idea on Woolsey N side rating either, but I have a couple photos to post when I get home. I didn't get a detailed look at these peaks in person, just looking over from Cloud Peak in 2001. Info on these is limited, as you know. I did research in 06-07 with the intent to pack in there for Black Tooth at least, but the trip never happened. Someday....

Remembered a couple more probables. Quite a few 5th classers in the plains regions, especially unranked formations.

I'd say Pin Top could go class 4. But it's really exposed and dangerous.

This one was looked at a while back, and we(Jerry Brekhus and I) concluded that the spot elevation is innacurate. Jerry took a photo from the north that shows this pinnacle is lower than the nearby ridge at 9400+. As for the extra contours, it appears they were "filled in" to match up with the errant spot. It looks quite a bit lower than the ridge - 9285' is possible. Still very steep, and still probably 5th class. No idea when or if it has been climbed. Long hike to get back there. Credit to Jerry for putting on the boots and checking this one out.

Good memory - I remember that now. In cases like this and with peaks that are now non-existent because of mining, I've been adding them back and putting in the relevant notes so that they don't keep coming back into question. This peak is now still listed, but I've reduced the elevation accordingly and included the explanation.
